XIX NATIONAL CONGRESS OF ARGENTINE ARCHEOLOGY

Between August 08 and 12, 2016, the XIX National Congress of Argentine Archeology (XIX CNAA) took place in the city of San Miguel de Tucumán.

This scientific meeting, which is held periodically every three years, met in the year of the Bicentennial of Independence in the birthplace of the Nation.

The XIX CNAA was of a magnitude never seen before, partly due to the growth of the archaeological discipline itself and partly due to the interest aroused by the Bicentennial of Independence.

The event brought together 1053 participants (804 exhibitors, 249 attendees). Of them, 123 were foreigners (72 Chileans, 23 Brazilians, 14 Uruguayans, 8 Peruvians, 5 Americans, and one French). The Argentine participants came from all the provinces of the country. There were 56 exhibition spaces: poster session (1), regional communication tables (5) and students (1), round tables (4) and symposia (45). In these spaces, 860 papers were presented. The thematic diversity and the holding of 5 round tables and symposia that dealt with topics related to Indigenous Peoples, Social Movements and Human Rights are highlighted.
