(in memoriam de Patricia Escola)
On November 29 and 30, 2019, took place the Meeting “The past summons us: NOA Archeology Generated by Women” (in memoriam of Patricia Escola), organized and held in Tilcara, Jujuy. This second meeting / workshop on the personal and academic experiences of archaeologists of different generations had the objective of contributing with new contents to the history of archeology in Argentina, through their own personal and academic paths, crossed by different political junctures.
This meeting allowed to broaden the horizon of the group of women archaeologists making a journey from a perspective, until that moment never approached –that is, the female way of looking– of the archaeological practices of the NOA in the field, in the laboratory and in the university cloisters between the sixties and today. The meeting was open to «all archaeologists working at NOA.» Colleagues from different academic, university and scientific centers participated and they reflected on the professional practice of women in Argentine archeology, outlining the history of the discipline of the last 60 years in our country. The rounds of stories were the focus of the meeting, filled with the senses and profound testimonies of the four generations. In addition, PhD. Myriam Tarragó gave a moving conference entitled “Deconstructing the path. How I became a woman / archaeologist”.
